Switzerland is recognized as one of the most flourishing nations in the Western world. The nation?s charm and unique qualities keep UK visitors keep coming here every year. Zurich and Geneva are the two cities which are ranked in the world, as the two places with highest quality of lifestyle.

Switzerland is known for its excellent banking and first-class goods. Although, the country has neighbours like France, Germany, and Italy; it is not a part of Europe. Many important international organizations are based in the country (As Switzerland has since long been very neutral about wars and politics) like the United Nations, the Red Cross, and the World Trade Organisation.

Switzerland is a popular destination so prices are competitive. You can fly from most international UK airports like Heathrow and Manchester. You can fly with airlines such as Jet2, BMI, Flybe, Lufthansa, KLM, Austrian Airlines, Easyjet, Iberia and British Airways. You can easily find flights for around the ?36 mark; remember that taxes need to be added on to the ticket.

Switzerland is popular all year round, especially the summer, and there is plenty of choice so book in advance or right at the last minute for the best deals. You can enter Switzerland with no problems with a valid UK passport, even though it isn?t part of the EU.

Switzerland?s normal temperatures are moderate and stay pleasant. This can vary greatly as several parts of the country fall in the mountainous regions which remain cold. The south region of the nation gets a Mediterranean weather. It?s very dry here, whereas the Alps get the wet climate.

Switzerland?s northern part, such as the Alps have temperate, which varies with height. However the average annual temperature is recorded as 9 degrees centigrade. The southern region for example, the canton of Ticino enjoys a warm and sometimes Mediterranean climate.

The weather can vary greatly, just like England. The best time to visit the mainland region is the summer months, as at that time, they are a little warmer. The Alps remain cool throughout the year. Not considering the climate, there are many things you can do in nay time of the year.

Switzerland is known for adventure sports like hiking trails and several winter sports. There are several ski resorts like Klosters, Verbier, and St Moriz, which are famed for the facilities on offer. You can enjoy ski, snowboard, and climb and many more. There are some high end resorts that offer bob sleigh run, and snow polo. You will also find health resorts in Klosers and St Moritx, which are good for relaxing.

If you like the idea of a carnival, visit Basel. The carnival of Basel takes place between February and March and there are three days of masked street parties and fancy costumes.

If you visit Geneva or Zurich then take a cruise down their lakes; you will be able to see the cities architecture whilst soaking in the atmosphere. You can also take the paddle steamers (old style boats) on these lakes.
